This is the 5th year of the Hair of the Dog Extravaganza. The name of the performance is a play on "the hair of the dog that bit you" as it is always scheduled the Saturday after St. Patrick's Day. This year we're movin' on up. So many things about this year are bigger and better and more creative than ever!
We are proud to announce that this year, the Hair of the Dog Extravaganza will be held at the Quick Center for the Arts on the campus of Fairfield University. It’s a beautiful theater that has been host to some of the best talent in the world, from Steven Sondheim to Bela Fleck to Dave Brubeck. This year, there are discount tickets for folks under 12 and over 65!
The "Hair of the Dog Extravaganza" is essentially a variety show with diversity that is hard to describe. It is definitely for all ages, and everyone who has ever attended loves it and comes back each year. It is a mash-up of contemporary and
traditional music, Irish and American music, Irish step dancing and modern dance. In addition the show presents aspects of deaf theatre and the visual arts. You’ll see all these mediums in their native form, and combinations of them all that will change the way you think about music, dance, St Patrick’s Day, and a variety show altogether.
Tim and Moira Speer Warren created the show. Tim Warren tours nationally with the music group called The Alternate Routes. Moira Speer was a top-ranked American Irish step-dancer. Moira founded the Sheeaun Academy of Irish Dance in 2009, which has cultivated several young champions in the art form.
Themed Irish fare and drinks will be available from Colony Grill.
