Jeff Austin & The Here And Now

Date/Time

Nov 14, 2013

Description

Jeff Austin redefined American folk music with The Yonder Mountain String Band, and with The Here And Now he's stretching out his mandolin skills yet again. Celebrated for his fleet fingers and unique approach to bluegrass, Jeff has become a driving force in modern folk and lauded in the jam band scene.

The Here And Now are a Bluegrass trio consisting of Banjo wizard Danny Barnes, flat-picking guitar champion Larry Keel and Jenny Keel holding down a solid string bass. It's an ambitious group, but they don't let technical skill over shadow the soul and honesty that bluegrass demands. Danny Barnes plays a banjo like no other, informed by punk and dub, frequently accompanied by a lap top. His barnyard electronic sound makes him one of the most intriguing voices in folk, or any other field. Larry and Jenny Keel have spent years on the tip of the folk worlds tongue thanks to Larry's well honed flat-picking.

All things considered, this is one quartet you don't want to miss out on.
