The CT Challenge is pleased to welcome Shannon Miller, the most decorated gymnast in American history, to Fairfield on March 20th as part of its Speaker Series.
Following an introduction by Bigelow Tea President and CEO Cindi Bigelow, Shannon will speak at the Roger Ludlowe Middle School at 7:00pm and will greet survivors at a reception prior to her presentation.
During her gymnastics career, Shannon won an astounding 49 National and 59 International medals, including two World All-Around Titles and seven Olympic Medals. After retiring, Shannon received her undergraduate and law degrees and moved from Olympic athlete to advocate for the health and wellness of women and children, launching Shannon Miller Lifestyle: Health and Fitness for Women which empowers women to make their health a priority through programs, education and awareness.
In 2011, Shannon was diagnosed with a malignant germ cell tumor, a rare form of ovarian cancer. She had the baseball-sized tumor removed successfully and followed up with nine weeks of chemotherapy. Now cancer free, Shannon continues to be a strong advocate for awareness and early detection.
