Your Best

Fairfield, I am so excited for you! Finally, we’re able to bring you your own “Best Of.” Yes, we’ve been publishing the Best of the Gold Coast Connecticut for eight years; and, yes, we’ve had winners in Fairfield—but this year, you have a section all to yourself. The Best of Fairfield! It’s on a whole new stage and your hometown is front and center.

For this feature, we polled our readers about their favorite places for irresistible Italian cuisine, mouthwatering martinis, live music, flattering cocktail dresses, cool bicycles, and lovely costume jewelry—and dozens of other categories. We covered a lot of ground in Fairfield and Southport.

And you responded, big time! More than 10,000 voters told us what they love—their “go to” places and their favorite finds. The results are right inside—have a look.

As the editor of a community magazine, I’m especially pleased to see how many local businesses took the top slots. It reinforces the belief that what we do here is truly a townwide collaboration. Let’s stay involved. Here’s a good way: Join us at the Best Of celebration on July 18. You’ll get a chance to meet the winners and sample their food, wares and talents. Trust me, it’s a fun, summertime event that gets bigger and better every year.

Next, start thinking about what we call “Light a Fire.” It’s an annual feature that is near and dear to us, because it focuses on Fairfielders who make a difference for others. Here’s your chance to have those you know garner recognition for their efforts and mission. We tend to gather many nominations before deciding on the ten finalists, so the more you tell us about those you are nominating, the better. Each honoree receives a beautiful Light a Fire Award and is featured in an upcoming issue, so fellow Fairfielders can learn about what they do and why. We know this is not why philanthropically minded individuals do such work, but their stories are uplifting. Plus, it’s rewarding to thank people who make living here even better.

Finally, the magazine is hosting its annual photo contest. You can find details for submitting your best shots at our website: fairfieldlivingmag.com. Participation matters. Share your opinions, initiatives, and creativity. Together, we’ll keep Fairfield shining in the spotlight.
