A Good Shave
TeamBrent

For agreeing to go under the clippers and have their heads shaved, participants in TeamBrent’s eighth annual St. Baldrick’s event were certainly brave. But not as brave as the young cancer patients for whom they raised money. TeamBrent, founded in 2005 to help Brent McCreesh—then three years old and fighting stage IV neuroblastoma—and cancer-stricken children like him, has raised millions of dollars for childhood cancer research.
TeamBrent’s mission is for all children to recover from their illnesses, just like Brent did. The St. Baldrick’s event is one of the foundation’s most successful (and fun!) fundraising efforts. This year was no exception, drawing in $165,000. More than 300 children, men, and women—yes, women—lopped off their locks while requesting donations from friends and family.
Next St. Baldrick’s Day, forget about visiting the salon. Shave your head—a powerful symbol of solidarity with young cancer patients—to be in good company with TeamBrent.
