The Pequot Yacht Club (PYC) continued its rich tradition of seafaring by hosting its Fifty-Eighth Annual Pequot Invitational. The PYC hosted thirteen visiting yacht clubs for the two-day regatta, a celebration of physical and mental strength. Day one proved to be a perfect sailing day, allowing for six full races in the normally temperamental Long Island sound. This event might be the second oldest regatta on the Long Island Sound, but the invitational is anything but out-of-date. Sailors for the Sea, a nonprofit devoted to ocean conservation related to the sailing and boating community, recently awarded the PYC the Silver Clean Regattas Certification for their environmental efforts.
