Sustain the Goodness
Fairfield Museum and History Center
Students from Fairfield and Bridgeport collaborated on a new view for Bridgeport. A multidisciplinary student exhibition project, Our Nation’s Generations: Sustainable Cities partnered teachers, schools and the Fairfield Museum and History Center to help students create the program. The students were asked: What is your vision for sustainability and positive growth for the city of Bridgeport, and how can an abandoned building or empty lot help to change the city for the future? Over twelve months and through historical research, inquiry, writing and arts-based activities, fifth-grade students from the New Beginnings Family Academy in Bridgeport were partnered with and mentored by eighth-grade students from the Unquowa School in Fairfield to explore the history of the area and develop proposals for urban revitalization.
