The Center for Women and Families
Karen Baron, Ellen Carter and Vice President of Wealth Management JoAnn Keller
The Center for Women and Families recently held their sixteenth annual Speaking of Women Luncheon at the Waterview in Monroe. Author and motivational speaker Dave Pelzer was the keynote speaker, sharing with the crowd of 450 attendees the story of how he overcame the trauma of childhood abuse. The center also shared with the attendees a video explaining their eighteen-month transition into the Center of Family Justice, which will serve Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull. President and CEO Debra Greenwood explained that the Center of Family Justice will be an invaluable resource to victims of abuse in our community. Thanks to collaborations between law enforcement, prosecutors, social services and advocates, victims will no longer have to retell their stories countless times or bounce around from place to place, seeking help. All of their needs will be met in one location. The Speaking of Women Luncheon is the center’s most important event of the year, raising funds for services to aid victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
