Helping Out at Home

Fairfield’s renowned music and theatre organization, and a new kind of walk to support the safety of women and children, are two of the dealership’s good causes.

“They’ve got a very impressive history and track record of support for the community,” notes Joe Rog, the director of corporate and community partnerships with the Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC), speaking about BMW of Bridgeport, and of its role as an official season sponsor in past, current, and future years.

FTC, known for its musical events, provides a full spectrum of cultural offerings at three venues: Stage One, the theatre’s downtown Fairfield hub, with its 230 seats and 180 shows a year, the 1500-seat Klein Memorial Auditorium in Bridgeport; and the 1000-seat Norwalk Concert Hall. Films, theatre, a summer cabaret and workshop program for children, and sponsored music instruction for underserved youth are also components of the impressive schedule.

“We have a lot in our portfolio,” says Rog. “and thanks to BMW of Bridgeport’s support, we’ve been able to attract some top names to FTC.” The theatre has welcomed Leon Russell, Jimmy Cliff and Shawn Colvin, as part of BMW’s Driving Music Series. In addition, jazz, pop, and blues are all well represented. For complete listings, visit the FTC website. »

In addition to its ongoing support for Fairfield’s major cultural organization, the Bridgeport dealership will also get its employees and friends into high heels for a very special event on April 27. Rog, who is also involved, hopes that Walk A Mile In Her Shoes—which literally puts men, including our Fairfield chief of police, into women’s footwear, will raise awareness of the need to protect some of our most endangered citizens. The program supports women and children at risk for domestic abuse.

“Mitch McManus (BMW of Bridgeport’s CEO and GM), who lives here in town, along with his people, do so much for this community,” says Rog. “They’ve been our greatest supporters, year in and year out.”
