The Town of Fairfield seeks residents for Board & Commission Openings

Throughout the year, as positions become available, the town seeks residents who are interested in being considered for appointed positions on varying Boards & Commissions. In an effort to keep a political party balance, requirements as specified in the Town Charter, some positions have party restrictions.

These volunteer, registered voter positions become available as: terms expire, volunteers retire or new committees are formed.  Each term is a multiple year term and each volunteer can serve up to two full terms.  One (usually evening) meeting is held each month during each term. Interested parties are encouraged to attend a meeting prior to committing and applicants must be approved by the Board of Selectmen and often additionally by the RTM.

Positions currently available:

Fair TV Operational Committee: seven vacancies as of July 2013, term length, meeting times & days TBD. Established in 2008 this volunteer position oversees the development & operation of educational and government access television programming for Fairfield on channel 78 (Fair TV: Education) & channel 79 (Fair TV: Government).

Harbor Management Commission: two vacancies as of November 2013, four year term, meets the 3^rd Tuesday of each month at 4.30pm.  Established in 1995 to devise & implement a management plan for Southport Harbor, this commission oversaw the dredging of Southport Harbor in 2004 and is authorized by state statutes to establish a fee schedule for mooring and anchorage permits and to collect these fees.

Osborn Hill Windows Building Committee: five to eleven vacancies, will meet until project completion, meeting dates & times TBD.  Established to plan, coordinate & supervise the upgrading of windows at OHS following the educational specifications developed by the Board of Education.
