New tech makes it tough to cheat on your fitness routine

As the market for wearable tech expands, activity trackers have evolved from simple pedometers to stylish devices that push you to work harder and smarter. Here’s a look at some new trackers that can help you establish healthy habits, whether you’re a regular gym rat or simply revisiting resolutions to get fit.

1. JayBird Reign

Attention triathletes: This one’s for you. The waterproof band tracks progress as you transition from running, swimming and cycling. In addition to recording your every move, Reign monitors your sleep; the Go Zone feature then measures your body’s readiness for each day’s activity. Reign is available in late June at the Apple Store in Greenwich and Best Buy in Norwalk. Price is $199.

2. Garmin VÍvofit

Available in five colors, the Vívofit’s one-year battery life ensures you’ll rarely have to take the band off for a recharge. The large display functions as both a watch and a tracking device for your every step, calories burned and sleep cycle. Daily goals are automatically generated and alerts appear when inactivity is detected. $130. Available at Radio Shack in New Canaan, Westport and Cos Cob.

3. Tory Burch for Fitbit Flex

Worried that your fitness band isn’t chic enough to wear every day? Look for Tory Burch’s collaboration with Fitbit Flex, a line that will include pendants, bracelets and wristbands designed to hold the Fitbit tracker and make your device appear more as stylish jewelry than a workout reminder. Pricing to be determined. Products available at the Tory Burch store in Greenwich, 203-622-5023.

4. Moov

Strap this wearable sensor—it’s smaller than an Oreo cookie—to your wrist, ankle, arm or shoe for a personal training experience. The device will guide you in a run or coach you through a cardio boxing session. Real-time interactive instruction keeps you motivated while form monitoring helps prevent injury. Pre-order now for summer. $59.

5. Samsung Gear Fit

Paired with a Galaxy smartphone, the Gear Fit is an activity tracker and smartwatch in one device. Features include accelerometer, gyro and heart-rate sensors, stopwatch, timer and coaching software to guide workouts. Stay connected while simultaneously receiving calls and e-mail notifications on the go. Prices start at $199. Available at Samsung retailers and Best Buy in Norwalk (203-857-4543).
